When I moved to Redmond, Oregon in 2015, I was stepping into a legacy, taking over my family’s real estate company as the third generation to lead the
business. There were countless challenges in starting over, but I learned to see the opportunities in challenges and the growth that can come with change.

My roots are in Anchorage, Alaska, which is known as the “big city”, but if you want to experience the real Alaska, Anchorage is probably the last place you want to be. That’s why I spent most of my time outside the city, enjoying the outdoors and living the kind of adventurous lifestyle that draws so many people to Alaska.
Whether it was snowboarding, skiing, or hiking, I grew up with an appreciation for nature and a love for outdoor sports.
Professionally, I always forged my own path. Out of high school I had a car audio business, then went into personal training and nutrition, starting my own businesses coaching and guiding people. I enjoyed giving people the resources, information, and guidance to reach their goals.

It was actually a gym owner who encouraged me to try real estate. Her husband was a top agent, and after some convincing, I decided to give it a shot. I got my license in Alaska in 2005 and started from scratch, building my business one relationship at a time. The first year was tough, but I eventually found my stride. Just like in health and fitness, I was helping people reach their goals. I found it extremely fulfilling because homeownership can change someone’s life and create stability and financial well-being for their future.
When the opportunity came to take over our family brokerage, Trout Realty, in Oregon, I knew it would be a challenge to start over in a new community, but it was a challenge I was willing to take on. My grandfather started the company back in 1972, and later my aunt and uncle took it over in the mid-eighties. In 2015, they offered to sell the business to me. It is a trusted and reputable local name, so I felt a deep responsibility to continue this family legacy, so I bought it.

Of course, it came with challenges, learning a new market, establishing a network, and finding my place in the community. For a while, I kept my team going in Alaska, traveling back and forth every two weeks, but gradually I shifted my focus to Oregon and put down roots here.

One of the most important things I did was get involved in the community. I joined the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, and several local networking groups. I started attending fundraisers and nonprofit events to meet people and become part of the fabric of Redmond. In doing so, I realized that this small, tight-knit community really relies on one another to support local business, fund initiatives, and make this the great place it is to live. It was a perfect fit for what I believe, which is that if you give back and focus on building genuine relationships, you will naturally build a business through trust.
Moving here has not only led me to a community I love and the honor of owning a business with a respected reputation, but it also led me to meet my wife, Sarah. She shares my values and love for community involvement. One of my proudest achievements is earning a Community Impact award with my wife. The Chamber of Commerce created the award just for us. For me, it symbolizes our shared commitment to this community and the greater impact we strive to make. Sarah and I love being part of this entrepreneurial, supportive community, and we’re always looking for ways to give back.
When I’m not doing real estate, going to community events and meetings, or helping my mom run our embroidery business, I love spending time outdoors and enjoying the many great local businesses here.
I’m grateful I took that leap of faith and uprooted my life to start over here. It has led to so many incredible relationships and countless lessons learned. Sometimes you have to embrace new beginnings and step outside your comfort zone to grow, learn, and build something truly lasting.
My approach to real estate is simple: I believe in educating my clients, setting clear expectations, and making the process as easy and stress-free as possible.
From our first meeting, I guide you through every step by explaining the buying or selling process, answering your questions, and making sure you know what to expect at each stage. I handle negotiations, coordinate showings, and manage all the paperwork so you never feel overwhelmed. If repairs or improvements are needed, I connect you with trusted local professionals and schedule the work, ensuring everything is handled efficiently and transparently.
Beyond the transaction itself, I strive to be a resource for my clients before, during, and after the sale. Whether you need recommendations for contractors, help with moving logistics, or advice on the best local service providers and shops, I am here to help! My goal is to take as much off your plate as possible so you can focus on the bigger decisions.
Most of my business comes from referrals because I believe that trust and genuine connection are at the heart of a successful real estate experience. This means clients trust me enough to recommend me to their friends and family. That is by far the greatest compliment and shows that my integrity, honesty, and care are valued by my clients. I’m here to support those I serve before, during, and well after the transaction is over, creating customers for life!
Sincerely,

Jason Trout
